Summer Time Memory's
Watching my fruit tree ripening reminds me of a sweet summer time memory I have from my childhood of sweet apricots hot off the tree and I mean HOT. My uncle lived in Concord California and apricot trees love that climate! and he had one of the best. I remember when we would go for a visit and the tree was ripe for picking... we would climb up the tree and sit on a branch picking the hot fruit and eating it. The sweet apricots were so juicy they would drip all down our hands and arms. The summer sun would beat down all around us but we didn't mind because the fruit had a bit of magic keeping us cool and happy. We would eat so many apricots that our tummy's would be filled to the top and a lot of the time a nap would follow
I believe this tree in my back yard is a peach or nectarine fruit... I can hardly wait to taste a fresh picked fruit off the branch again!!! I might just have to make peach filled jello or peach Popsicle sticks or... Some waffles with slices of peach on top yummmmmm... I can hardly wait
Update July 10 2014: Turns out this is a plum tree I love plums but now I have to try and beat the birds to the punch lol
So I was reading a blog by Then she made and found this really cool way to make a soup storage can holder so I thought that I would try it myself so I start with a box like this then I cut the end off of my box because my pantry doors would not close because the box was too long then I taped the end I just cut off back to the place i just cut it off of but I tucked in the ends then I cut half way down the place I just taped to make a hole that I can pull the cans from when I need one Here is the finished end of one side next on the opposite side I cut a hole in the top so that I can add new cans to the back as I buy them that way I always use the oldest first next I took scrapbook paper and covered the box
I used this spray adhesive only because I love it! rubber cement will work just fine or what ever glue you wish
and here is my finished product! Woo Hoo I did this in only one hour! not bad I am quite happy with it. see how it works.....cans in back and pull out the front
Looking through the pictures I have taken over the last year I came across a screen shot message from my son that he sent me on Christmas day 2015. It brought back tears as it did the day he sent it. Somehow I managed raise a beautiful young man in spite of all my short comings as a parent. I miss the opportunity of seeing you sweet pea but I am very grateful that we can talk everyday.
# 739 Appreciation given by a thankful child
Dec 25 2015
As I sit here and eat my breakfast on Christmas morning, I want you to know that I am filled with joyful memories of my childhood. I am truly blessed to have the parents that I have. I know that you guys always did everything you could do for us kids, and the memories you helped create for me will stay with me forever. Although it's sad I don't get to see you and give you a hug today, you and dad are in my thoughts and heart. Merry Christmas mom and dad and know that I love you very much.
