Summer Time Memory's
Watching my fruit tree ripening reminds me of a sweet summer time memory I have from my childhood of sweet apricots hot off the tree and I mean HOT. My uncle lived in Concord California and apricot trees love that climate! and he had one of the best. I remember when we would go for a visit and the tree was ripe for picking... we would climb up the tree and sit on a branch picking the hot fruit and eating it. The sweet apricots were so juicy they would drip all down our hands and arms. The summer sun would beat down all around us but we didn't mind because the fruit had a bit of magic keeping us cool and happy. We would eat so many apricots that our tummy's would be filled to the top and a lot of the time a nap would follow
I believe this tree in my back yard is a peach or nectarine fruit... I can hardly wait to taste a fresh picked fruit off the branch again!!! I might just have to make peach filled jello or peach Popsicle sticks or... Some waffles with slices of peach on top yummmmmm... I can hardly wait
Update July 10 2014: Turns out this is a plum tree I love plums but now I have to try and beat the birds to the punch lol
So I was reading a blog by Then she made and found this really cool way to make a soup storage can holder so I thought that I would try it myself so I start with a box like this then I cut the end off of my box because my pantry doors would not close because the box was too long then I taped the end I just cut off back to the place i just cut it off of but I tucked in the ends then I cut half way down the place I just taped to make a hole that I can pull the cans from when I need one Here is the finished end of one side next on the opposite side I cut a hole in the top so that I can add new cans to the back as I buy them that way I always use the oldest first next I took scrapbook paper and covered the box
I used this spray adhesive only because I love it! rubber cement will work just fine or what ever glue you wish
and here is my finished product! Woo Hoo I did this in only one hour! not bad I am quite happy with it. see how it works.....cans in back and pull out the front
I am so happy each year that my "Disney Land Rose Bush" blooms.
My sister and brother in law gave us this Rose bush about eight years ago and it still flowers every year
I know... I have blogged about my bush before but I really LOVE IT
I love the large blooms
I love the way it changes color
OH! Look what I found...
In years past I have had a problem with aphids
But not this year thanks to this sweet little man
