Here is the cake that I made yesterday for our bbq. It was very delicious and sweet The cake is banana with vanilla cream frosting and whip cream and strawberries in the center. On the outside is the Oreo Cookie Drops that I made Friday this was all so yummy

Oreo Cookie Drops

This is what you need only use one bag of chocolates  Mix the Oreo's in a zip lock bag all of the cream filling ended up on the bag so I added some frosting
mix it all well until you can make one inch balls let them sit in the refrigerator until cold add tooth picks for dipping and then dip into chocolate that you have heated in the double boiler take the tooth picks out and put into the fridge until cold again then serve

Thinking about today

Image
Just sitting here thinking about a good friend that I lost this week whom had esophagus cancer. Here he is sitting with his Auntie, my mother in law and his sister. This picture was taken in June 2010 at our daughters Celebration of life gathering. He was diagnosed in November 2010 and now passed Wed. 2011 of July. I miss him and am trying to live like he encouraged us to do and live for a better life. Do the things that you want to do now and do not wait to tell the ones you love that you do. RIP Budo, I will miss you.

Making your own sea salt

Your own sea salt I came across this blog and I soooooo want to try this but I have to get to the ocean first and that trip will be about two hours so, I will have to wait for now.

Mystery Plant

Image
I call this my trumpet bush but when I went out this morning to water I found a seed pod

Here is the seed pod, I was amazed because I have had this plant for four years and this is the first year that it grew a seed pod
If you look real hard you can see another seed pod in the back next to the fence

Excalibur Food Dehydrator

Image
Today I was invited to a food preserver fair and was amazed at the many different ways that food can be preserved. In May I did a post on Wonder oven/ Hot box that I had made and was really happy to find that way to cook food and save in electricity and gas but not only that I would not be heating my house up in the summer when my poor small little air conditioner is working harder than it's hamster can run (LOL Just kidding) and when testing this Hot box out I was really surprised and very happy to find that after four hours of soup sitting in my box it was still steaming and very hot to the touch when I opened it up to eat! Mmm White bean soup w/basil. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my hot box.

BUT!!! Now I have found a new gadget for food preserving and that is the Excalibur Food Dehydrator . I had a friend that made some beef jerky for me and it was so good that I thought that I would love to make some but it is something that I never really did so I am going to save up to purchase one of …

I am following a blog called Down To Earth and today is her "Friday photo feature" so I am joining in and here is my photo for the day.

I love to watch things grow, I love to eat the things that grow in my yard, sometimes the waiting to eat things growing in my yard is hard but the reward is well worth it. Oranges are one of my most favorite things to eat!
As a child I would often visit my uncle and auntie. In their back yard they had a apricot tree that my siblings and my cousins and I would climb into and eat until we could eat no more.
If I had the time I would make my back yard a large garden and grow everything that I eat, but having to work it makes my time very short so I have to do with a small amount of items, but one day I will do more!

Would love to be here today, just kicking back and really enjoying the beach

Santa Cruz Boardwalk

Image
Here is a picture of mom and Joe walking down to the beach. She had to put her feet into the ocean but could not take her walker down through the sand so Joe had t help her
Here they are a little closer lol
I had to zoom in here to see them but they are half way there and mom had to stop because her back was hurting too much
Here is the lift to take you from one side of the board walk to the other. It is pretty cool looking down from there
Here is the roller coaster that mom said she would not ever get in because of her height sickness.....good thing I love heights and roller coasters

Shadow Brook Restaurant

Image
Here is the restaurant that we went to in Capitola, California it sits on the side of a cliff and has been there for around 60 years. It is a really nice place being clean and the service was great. There is a nice ambiance there and it is not loud there. I would go there again if we get down that way. The price is upper mid range
