William Apedaile, Family research and the Royal Wedding

Image
I have said before about my love for family history and with the Royal Wedding today it made me think about William Apedaile who was born in England and who is my Great Grandfather. I did some searching about the place that he was born and now I have to go there! I want to see the town that he was born in and the area he spent some time. He was young when his family came to America so he did not spend to much time there but his father and mother did. I am really happy to have this picture of William and I hope to take a trip to visit his grave on my next vacation in May. I have always wanted to go to London and England and look forward to the day that I can! Did you get to see the Royal Wedding? I loved watching it. I have a few family members there in England that I have never met and would love to attend a family reunion there some day. I was blessed to watch the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana also. All stops were pulled out for that one and the one today was very nice but diff…

Genealogists never die, they just lose their census

Image
I copied these sentences from a friends face book post that she got from her genealogist eleven years ago. I just had to post this because it was really cute! I would have added her name but she did not post it. This is titled; "Genealogists never die, they just loose their census".  1. My family coat of arms ties at the back....is that normal? 2. My family tree is a few branches short! All help appreciated. 3. My ancestors must be in a witness protection program! 4. Shake your family tree and watch the nuts fall! 5. My hobby is genealogy; I raise dust bunnies as pets. 6. How can one ancestor cause so much TROUBLE?? 7. I looked into my family tree and found out I was a sap. 8. I'm not stuck, I'm ancestrally challenged. 9. I'm searching for myself; have you seen me? 10. If only people came with pull-down menus and on-line help. 11. Isn't genealogy fun? The answer to one problem leads to two more! 12. Its 2000... Do you know where your-Gr-Gr-Grandparents are? 13. A family re…

Sparks Family

Image
I was going through my family history last night and found this coat of arms symbol for my lineage. I thought that it was really cool I am going to have to do some research on it though to find out what each symbol means. I love to do family research! I found out that my great, great, great grandfather was the first person to build a house on a foundation and that today it is a museum. I want to go visit it and need to find out where it is I think I will try and make that my next vacation!

This picture was taken when I was about a year and a half, my sister is on grandmas lap. I remember only one time that my grandmother did not wear a dress. Dresses were the only thing that she ever wore any where even when working. I remember as a teenager we went to work cleaning brand new houses before they went up for sale and she still wore a dress. She would get down on her hands and knees cleaning. My mother then went out and bought her a pair of pants to wear and the next day she complained the whole day about them. Mom got so tired of listening to it she said "Don't wear them then!" Grandma felt better and the next day she was back in her dress. I do have to say that the outfit that she is wearing really does not work well together in my eyes but what do I know, that could have been the style then.  Don't my sister and I look so happy lol

April 20 2011 Windy Day

Here is my first video with my new camera, I just wanted to see if I could get it to work and it looks like it did but I may have to work on my skills a little more. I am still trying to work on getting it saved to a DVD but am having no luck with that yet! Well I hope that you enjoy my video with all its unfocused leaves and back ground noise lol

Sugar Easter Eggs

Image
Here is the beginning of the sugar easter egg that I made I just went to a store and purchased a plastic hollow egg that split in half and filled it with some of the mix I made which was; sugar, water with food color in it just until it was moistened. I pressed the mix in the egg then turned it out onto a hard cutting board with the flip method. then waited 24 hours and turned it over and scraped out the inside until I was happy with the thickness and let it dry for another 24 hours
now comes the fun of putting them together, I used a royal icing recipe for the glue

The top half of this one broke so it was made with only the bottom but it turned out really cute anyway

Here is me being really tired to the point of being REALLY Goofy LOL. I used the left over royal icing
Here are all the finished eggs, we chose to make them all on their sides instead of standing up but next year I may try to make the standing ones. The bottom front right egg was made in the night mare before easter theme.

Bowling Ball and Pink Shoes

Image
My little baby girl loved to do things but she always made sure that she looked good doing those things! She had such a eye for fashion and style, and I was always amazed that she did such a great job considering that her mother (yours truly) could not tell a turnip from a shoe lace LOL! One day when we went clothes shopping I was asking her about this shirt or this dress or pants and all her answers were NO! Then at one point she stopped shopping, looked at me and said "Mom, you are no longer allowed to shop with out me". Exasperated, I said OK you dress me and she did. She was picking all the clothes that I would never wear and we went into the fitting room and I told her that I would never wear these things and so I did not want to try them on! ( I was dragging my feet acting like a thirteen year old ) She said "No you asked for it so you have to at least try them all on", so I did and I was thinking to myself that I was not going to buy them any way so what harm…
